About Us
The Women’s Centre of Hamilton
The Women’s Centre of Hamilton is a program of Interval House of Hamilton that is committed to serving the needs of women in our community across a continuum and supporting the empowerment of women. Services are offered to women 16 years and older who are facing challenges in their life, have or are experiencing gender-based violence, abuse, and/or human trafficking, wanting to make a change, and for more information on community resources. Located in downtown Hamilton, the Women’s Centre is a resource hub offering women an accessible and non-judgemental space to receive free wrap-around services and to connect with others.
We welcome all women into our space. When we use the term woman/women, we mean Two-Spirit, Trans, and cis women. The Women’s Centre of Hamilton will continue to work towards more inclusive services for women by evaluating and changing our language, knowledge, practice, and spaces. We recognize that this is a process and welcome input from these communities and our partners on how we can improve.
The team at the Women’s Centre of Hamilton are experienced in providing counselling to women and specialize in providing support for experiences of violence and abuse. They are trained to assess risk, safety plan and develop safe exit strategies, support external referrals, advocate, and assist in your transition to safe housing, re-engage in the workplace, or rebuild connections with your community. They do so from an intersectional feminist framework and our services are strengths-based, client-centered and trauma-informed.
We are committed to supporting women, children, and communities build safer lives and work towards the elimination of gender-based violence through community work, partnerships, public education, training, and individual and group supports.
