VAW Counselling

Violence Against Women (VAW) counsellors provide specialized counselling services for women who are experiencing gender-based violence, abuse, and/or human trafficking. Our counsellors offer a therapeutic space to talk about abuse and the impacts, healing from the effects of abuse, boundaries, healthy relationships, parenting children who have experienced domestic violence, self-esteem, and self-efficacy.

They prioritize safety planning, risk assessment, advocacy, system navigation, and make referrals to shelter, police, victim services, and other supports in the community. Our VAW counsellors also facilitate many of our groups to help women come together, heal, and talk about their experiences.

Counselling sessions are offered for up to 12 sessions or women can access brief counselling supports if they are at risk, in crisis, and require immediate safety planning and referrals.
To connect with one of our VAW Counsellors, please call 905-522-0127 ext. 205.

* There is often a waitlist for our counselling services. To prioritize your safety, our counsellors will provide immediate and brief support if you are at an increased risk and require sooner assistance.
